When it comes to visit Barcelona, there are the inescapable touristic spots such as Las Ramblas, el Barrio Gotico, el Park Guell (worth seeing, don’t get me wrong)…but the Spanish city is full of new cool and modern spots to explore. We tried 4 of them during our trip to Spain last month:

THE MOST TRENDY: FLAX AND KALE

Best brunch Barcelona

With its beautiful decoration, cool ambiance and modern menu, Flax and Kale is one of the trendiest place to eat in Barcelona, and also one of the best Healthy Flexitarian restaurants I’ve been to (and trust me, there’s a looooot of them in LA). Most of the meals are vegetarian, 80% of the offer is plant-based, and the chef also offers a vegan menu. Try the fish tacos, the tuna wasabi burger or the Theresia cocosepia’s black rice. I unfortunately did not get to try the brunch (only during the weekend), but it’s also supposed to be awesome, with a wide selection of toasts, healthy bowls, pastries…

THE BEST TAPAS: BOUZU, TAPAS JAPONESAS

I told you this post would be about new and unusual places in Barcelona. So if you’re craving tapas, like 90% of the tourists visiting the city, try the Asian-Spanish fusion food from Bouzu. Incredible tapas mixing Spanish and Japanese traditional dishes: make sure you try the Sake Oyesters, the dumplings with Jamon Iberico, the “primavera rolls” or the beef carpaccio “Japanese style”
(both in the pictures above).

Between the “Born” and “Barrio Gotico” districts (two of the most popular places to visit in Barcelona, The Hotel La Ciutat provides reasonable priced bedrooms, an excellent location, and a nice rooftop with the view on the city and a pool. It’s also connected to a very good restaurant, Born Voraz.

We stayed there and enjoyed it!

That’s it! Next post I will share my best spots in Ibiza, which was our second destination.
