Fashion Trends Summer 2014: my shopping tips

Jungle Trend Summer 2014 Hermes

It’s time to shop for Summer 2014, but most of the magazines show us pictures of the new trends on the runways, which, let’s admit it, are not very affordable at all…so how do you shop these new trends in “real” life?

Here is my selection of the best Summer 2014 trends with suggestions of pieces to shop for at a reasonable price.

The Powder Pink

I think you all noticed it, Powder Pink is everywhere this summer! Spotted on the Isabel Marant Summer 2014 runway, it is the unavoidable color to shop, romantic, soft, chic and gorgeous on any tanned skin.

My favorite piece is this boyfriend jacket from French designer “Amenapih”.

The Transparence

TRANSPARENCE mode tendance été 2014

We reveal everything this summer, it is time to invest in new lingerie!

Transparency is a very feminine trend, but wear it chic and be careful: not sure your boss will appreciate to see your bra, so choose a top which is transparent only in the back (like Zara’s one), and keep the total transparent top for parties.

Polla Dots

Small or big, mixed with stripes, prints, lace, leopard…you can go crazy on polka dots this summer, an ideal print to add fun to your outfit: the little black dress will be less classic, a white shirt worn with black trousers more cheerful, shoes more stylish.

Lace

Already spotted last summer, but so feminine and romantic, lace is still very trendy this summer, and this time wear it in different colors, such as black, red (The Kooples), blue (Zara…). But my favorite style remains the white lace dress, such as this beautiful Sandro one, which I love to contrast with rock black boots and a big leather messenger bag.

Flowers Print

Dolce&Gabbana tendance IMPRIMÉ-FLORAL-ETE-2014

Not very new either, but seen on a lot of runways, the flowers bring the spring touch to our wardrobe. it is customized in several versions: romanitc, exotic, vintage-inspired, arty, Japanese style…My crush is this transparent Margaux Lonnberg silk shirt, with 2 trends in one if you followed this article!

“Jungle” look

Jungle Trend Summer 2014 Hermes

Spotted on the Hermès runway, the “Jungle” look invades fashion. We love the dark green color, the multicolored leaves or animal print, which brings a wild touch to our outfit. I am a fan of this Asos fringed bag and the animal “leo-python” printed from The Kooples.

The Pleated Skirt

Jupe plissée tendance été 2014 Dior

I already noticed this trend last winter, but it is so much easier and nicer to wear it in summer with nice heels and bare legs!

So this summer, forget the mini-skirt and opt for the mi-length pleated skirt, wiser and more elegant, that you will wear with a crop top and heels (forget flat shoes with this model!).

Sporty Fishnet

One more time, fashion is inspired by sportwear, as seen on Alexander Wang and Dior runways. Wear the fishnet mainly on a top, but I also found this cute Maje white dress and those sneakers from Hogan which are pretty awesome.

The Aquatic Trend

Well, not sure I will fall for this trend, which consists in wearing everything that reminds one of the sea: blue color, starfish, anchor, fish prints…to wear very cautiously if you don’t want to look costumed or like a WWF militant. Personally, I will stick with the classic blue striped print and eventually the fish scales print on the Minelli sandals.

Denim Overall

What great news, especially for a future mum AND overall fan like me! (and very bad for men, who mostly hate this). Denim overall is back, but choose a fitted leg, and wear it with rock boots or feminine sandals. I also love the “boyfriend” version, more edgy, to wear with a crop top.

Good shopping!
