The Midi Skirt has been back for a few seasons, and let’s confess it, it’s not the most flattering trend : not short enough to be sexy, not long enough to be glamorous, its under-the-knee length cut the leg, is the enemy of petites sizes, and sometimes remind us our grandma’s style.
However, there are ways to twist it without looking like a Mad Men secretary, following a few simple rules:
First rule : choose a model which adds some modern codes to the very classic cut, like the pleated faux cuir skirt I am wearing. And I may have cheated a little bit by picking a knee-length model :-).
Second rule : forget about what you saw on Zara (or others)’s lookbooks, where slender models wear the midi skirt with flat sandals, and they look amazing. I tried, and I looked short and fat. In real life, the one where you are still trying to loose the pounds you gained during the holidays, you wanna wear the midi skirt with heels. Friend advice.
Third rule : it’s a personal choice, but I like to highlight the waist to add the feminine and sexy touch that the midi skirt does not provide.

Wearing a crop top or a relaxed tee-shirt are also very good ideas to twist your style.
