Hi guys! If you follow me on Instagram, you must have seen a few lingerie shots popping up in my feed recently. Some of you must be wondering why…because it’s not really my style to reveal so much about me. It is no news that I am French militant. I was born and raised in France, convinced that our beautiful country provides everything that’s best: food, wine, lifestyle…and obviously fashion. When it comes to French fashion, most of you think of Haute Couture, Paris Fashion Week and Chanel bags…. but you may not know that France also invented lingerie. The first bra was born in 1889 in Paris, and to this day French lingerie designers have been nurturing a rich cultural legacy and historical savoir-faire.
We take our lingerie very seriously, just like our baguette, paid holidays, or right to strike ☺.
I have been working for a few years with Lingerie Francaise, an association also called “the Association for the Promotion of Corsetry Industries” that represents 14 amazing lingerie brands, some were created in the 19th century. What do these brands have in common? They have retained the unparalleled know-how and spirit of craftsmanship that has been passed down from generation to generation for centuries. But don’t get me wrong, their designs are modern, trendy and they are using cutting-edge technologies to design elevated, sophisticated lingerie.
Because I can’t miss one occasion to promote French fashion, it is my pleasure to introduce you to these 14 brands in this post. I went out of my comfort zone but tried to do this photoshoot with aesthetics and taste. I remembered that nowadays, lingerie should not be considered like a seduction tool. Aren’t we a little bit past this? Lingerie is about feeling comfortable, confident and beautiful. We should enjoy wearing lingerie for ourselves, like our personal power suit. Anyway, guys just want to rip it off, so who cares about what they think?
These 14 brands all have a very strong identity, and I am positive that you will find the right one for you.
I encourage you to follow @lingeriefrancaise on Instagram and each of these wonderful brands, and visit Lingerie Francaise’s blog where you will find the latest info about French fashion trends, culture and lifestyle.
PS: Some brands like Empreinte or Eprise specialize in full-busted women, so obviously I could not wear the lingerie (I am barely a B cup), however I tried to create flatlays that showcase the beautiful details of the sets that I received.
