Last week I took Jules to La Chouquette, a new French pastry that opened on Melrose. Chouquettes and I share a real love story, it’s the kind of pastry that brings me back to my childhood: they look like mini-puffs, they can be filled with cream or just plain, but in both case they are the most delicious treat to eat for breakfast or for a snack, and they feel so light that I could eat dozens! Jules was wearing his new sweater from Mini and Moi, a mini-collection sweaters with adorable pointy hoodies created by my friend Melanie. Not only do they look so cute, but the fabric’s incredibly soft, and they’re made in LA!
Elodie and Dan, the French couple that created and own La Chouquette, welcomed us warmly, gave us a tour of the place, and made us try their specialties! They make the most yummy and incredibly delightful gluten-free eclairs (see pictures above)..and this is coming from a gluten-free addict! You might want to try them all, but I suggest that you start with the litchi/rose one, so light and tasteful, and if you like chocolate, get your fix with the nutella flavor. La Chouquette uses fresh, organic and tasty ingredients, and everything is made fresh on site (you can see the kitchen and the fresh viennoiseries being baked from the shop).
Special thanks to Elodie and Dan, to Anne who made me discover the place and her husband Remy who watched and distracted Jules while I was taking the pictures :-).
