Restaurants open everyday in Paris, but it’s rare to find something different and special.
I tried the burgers from Siseng, on the Canal Saint-Martin, and what a great surprise! Finally something original I’d never had before, and of course was delicious.
OK, now you are thinking: Burgers AGAIN? But these are neither your typical American burgers. These burgers have an asian fusion. Instead of the classic bun, they use a Chinese bun called “Bao”, and the flavours of the burgers are inspired by the Asian cuisine: lemongrass, coconut milk, cilantro, etc…
Another good surprise: it’s located on the quai de Jemmapes, this”Asian Food Bar” does not look like a traditional Asian restaurant: the decoration is modern and industrial with exposed brick and wood, and if you are lucky you can get a table by the window to enjoy the view on Canal Saint Martin.
My advice: get there early, because it gets packed quickly everyday! And if you have kids, order to take away since the place is not really designed to welcome a stroller.
Above, the Bao Burger Kai, with fried chicken, coconut milk, basil sauce and housemade coleslow. I picked it and it was sensational.
And this is the Bao Burger 5 épices, with beef marinated in 5 spices, oignon tempura with a caramelised sauce.
Since I can’t decide which one was the best, I guess I will have to go back to make my mind up :-).
Also on the menu: sweet potato fries, green tea homemade beverages, beef or shrimp balls which are also the house specialty.
I can only recommend you this place, I LOVED it!
