I do have a special relationship with L.A.X.. My husband and I met on a flight between Paris and L.A.X. (true story). We basically had our first date here, and our first good-bye too. I remember walking with him, in the Tom Bradley terminal, reluctant to say good-bye, pushing to the maximum the moment I will have to go through security and give him a last kiss.
At the time, the Tom Bradley terminal was going under a lot of constructions, and we were always hanging out at the same café. With all the renovation that L.A.X is going through, this café has since been replaced by a new enhance security checkpoint. Pass that check-point and terminal B has been transformed into a trendy and luxurious place infused with the LA-culture.
Tip: to prepare your trip, go on the LAXishappening website to brief yourself of all changes, new places to stop, terminal updates, etc…
Going to L.A.X., now as a family (and not crying alone in the duty-free area, lol), is a shopping and food experience, something which excites me as a traveler. I can hang at the Fred Segal shop (where I always buy my fragrance Nasomatto), and dream in front of the windows of Hermes, Gucci or Porsche Design…it’s like going to the Grove, there’s so much to do!
The new LAX has also kicked it up a notch in the dining experience, since the Tom Bradley terminal has welcomed some of Los Angeles’ top restaurants: Chaya (fresh sushis), Ink Sack (my favorite!), Petrossian (caviar and champagne bar), and many others. If you stop by Ink Sack, please try the Ruben sandwich and thank me after :-).
Part of the modernization of LAX is the luxurious, design and comfy rest areas, with charging stations, cool chairs and sofas with which to rest or catch up on some work (because there is FREE WIFI, very easy to access, yeaaaah! Paris airports, pay attention!)
I think you get my point: I love L.A.X.! Some terminals are still under construction, which can be a little painful and confusing for travelers but when I see what they did with the Tom Bradley terminal, it’s totally worth the wait.
So…are you ready to take off?
