Once a week, since I have been living in Los Angeles, I indulge my self with a yummy meal from The Vegan House, a little restaurant in Hollywood which cooks a delicious fusion of Thaï, Japanese and American food.
When you walk on Wilcox Avenue, you may not notice the little green wood shack, hidden behind a tree. Too bad for you! Inside of this little house is to me, one of the best healthy restaurants in LA.
The first time I came, I ordered a Yaki Udon, stir-fried Japanese udon noodles mixed vegetables (cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, and carrot) pickle ginger and dried seaweed on top. I took Soy Chicken with it, I was very curious because I never heard of it before: it looks like chicken, has the same consistency, and almost tastes like it too, but it is Soy cooked with a secret of the House, and it is succulent!
My man, who is a regular customer, is a fan of Green Curry, Thai herb and spices blended lemon grass, rhizome in green chili paste with bamboo shoots, basil, eggplant, and bell peppers simmered in coconut milk. Good but too spicy for me.
My other favorite meal: “Pad Woon Sen”, glass bean noodles (very thin and light) sauteed with cabbage, fresh mushroom, tomato, green onion, bean sprouts, and cilantro.
Bonus; the owners are very nice, and will take good care of you.
You can also order your meal on the website for take-out.
So if you want to try good healthy food during your stay in LA, I totally recommend this place!
